Reference and Circulation

Reference
The section is currently located near the entrance of the library.
It handles all inquiries related to the use of the library, the collections and the services.  The section is also responsible for registering new users, clearing completing students and inter-library loan (library exchange services).  

Staff in the Section
  The section is administered by a professional librarian who is assisted by some support staff. These include:
1.    Mrs. Nalubega Kizza Victoria,MSLIS (Mak). Ag. Head of Reference and Circulation Section.

Periodicals/E-Resources
Periodicals Section is located in Prof.Abidi one of the longest serving librarians in Uganda. The section houses print serial/journal publications and electronic copies (CDs/DVDs) of some books in the library.
 Within the section is the Electronic Resource Center that houses several computers which are connected to Internet. The computers are used to access the library’s electronic resources. AIC E-Resources.  
 The section is operational throughout the time the library is open. In order to access services in this section, a user must have a valid Library Card.

Reserved Books Section  
Reserved Books Section (RBS) contains text books in all subjects taught at the college which have been recommended by the teaching staff except on Law.  
Accessing Text Books in the Section
The text books which are in Closed Access (CA) are shelved in a cage and served to readers on request through Service Windows (SW). Students and lecturers are allowed to borrow the text books in this section on presentation of a valid library card.  The text books are loaned out only for three hours and are read within the library.

Technical Section  
This Section is charged with the responsibility of receiving, processing, labeling and availing all library information materials to patrons. The section is also charged with automating the library collections and maintaining an efficient Open Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) System.
Within the section is a Bindery Unit where damaged books are repaired.
The section is out of bound to non library staff.
